HOW DOES ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AFFECT LANGUAGE LEARNING?

The development of digital technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) has significantly changed the teaching and learning of foreign languages. Languages are just one of the many fields where artificial intelligence (AI) has revolutionized education. Al has many uses in the teaching and learning of languages, including as algorithms that identify, structure, and tailor instruction to each student. lessons create learning exercises depending on a student's strengths, assess and continuously provide feedback on a student's development, and model interactive learning settings. The impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on language learning in contemporary educational settings is thoroughly examined in this article. It examines AI-driven technologies such as intelligent tutoring systems, natural language processing, machine translation, speech recognition, and adaptive learning platforms. The study explores the pedagogical advantages of AI, including personalized instruction, immediate feedback, learner autonomy, increased motivation, and accessibility. At the same time, it critically evaluates challenges such as reduced human interaction, ethical risks, data privacy concerns, algorithmic bias, and technological dependence. The article argues that AI should serve as a complementary educational tool that enhances, rather than replaces, human-centered language instruction.
