Small-Molecule Reduction by Low-Oxidation-State Magnesium Complexes

Industrial processes are highly reliant on expensive and toxic metal catalysts. This thesis explores whether magnesium, an abundant and environmentally friendly metal, can be used as an alternative. This work shows that magnesium can form and break chemical bonds in ways previously thought possible only for transition metals. These findings improves our understanding of magnesium chemistry and may help guide the development of safer and more sustainable industrial catalysts
