A Black soldier fly larvae bioconversion-data set

Dataset Description
The dataset comprises comprehensive information extracted from 27 studies included in a systematic review and meta-analysis evaluating the bioconversion of agro-industrial waste by Hermetia illucens larvae.

Table 1 – Characteristics of Included Studies:
Summarizes key attributes of each study, including geographic location, study design, substrate type, larval stage and density, experimental conditions, performance metrics, and reported outcomes.

Supplementary Table 1 – PECOS Criteria for Inclusion and Exclusion:
Defines the Population, Exposure, Comparator, Outcomes, and Study Design parameters applied to select eligible studies and exclude non-qualifying reports.

Supplementary Table 2 – Risk of Bias Assessment:
Presents the methodological quality evaluation for each study across five domains: SLS (Substrate & Larval Selection), PEC (Performance & Experimental Control), ODM (Outcome Detection & Measurement), ATT (Attrition), and O (Overall risk rating).

Supplementary Table 3 – GRADE Summary of Findings:
Provides an evidence quality appraisal for the effects of black soldier fly bioconversion on selected environmental outcomes (e.g., waste reduction efficiency, greenhouse gas emissions) and performance outcomes (e.g., larval biomass yield, feed conversion ratio), following the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) approach.

This dataset integrates both descriptive and critical appraisal components, enabling quantitative synthesis and evidence-based interpretation of Hermetia illucens bioconversion potential in sustainable waste management contexts.
