Souza-Turner-Lenski Experiment with HGT: Raw sequence reads

We analyzed genomes from an experiment in which Escherichia coli K-12 Hfr donors were periodically introduced into 12 evolving populations of E. coli B. Contrary to expectations, previous work showed that recombination did not increase the rate of adaptation, despite increasing genetic variation relative to asexual control populations. We sequenced 24 genomes sampled after 1000 generations of the recombination treatment, in addition to the genomes of the 4 donor and 12 recipient strains. We also continued the experiment for 200 additional generations without recombination, and we sequenced whole-population samples at the start and finish of this period. We also sequenced 2 clones from this experiment that were described in Turner et al. (1996) in Ecology.
