In the current investigation we
explore how the social distance influence the process of uncertain decision making .Thirty-five healthy subjects (15
female) completed a modified IGT for three social distance subjects (self,
friend and stranger) during Event Related
Potentials (ERP) recording. The
analysis was focused on the three different stages of uncertain decision making process. During the choice evaluation stage, the P300
for advantageous deck when gambling for a stranger was higher than when
gambling for him/herself and a friend, while results were contrary when
evaluating disadvantageous deck. During the response selection stage, gambling
for a stranger produced larger DPN amplitude than gambling for oneself. During
the feedback evaluation stage, FRN was larger when gambling for oneself than
for a stranger, and fP300 distinguished the low from the
high social distance. These results suggest that the modulation effect of
social distance worked differently in the distinct stages of uncertain
decision-making.
