Land-production elasticities

This is a work-in-progress dataset of 'land-production elasticities', referred to as 'beta' within the dataset. These are elasticities between farmed areas and total production of each product, estimated using national data on production and area from the FAOSTAT database. The values are available as a time-series, produced using a Kalman filtering process. A manuscript describing this process is in preparation. Version 2 - methodology improved to now estimate beta for physical area rather than 'harvested area', so these factors now account for multicropping and can be used more directly to assess land-mediate impacts (e.g. carbon opp costs, LIFE, cSAR). This was achieved using spatial cropping intensity data from Ziu et al. 2021. A manuscript describing the production of this dataset is in progress, including validation of the data.
