Samples of dark biofilms from the surfaces of 3 historic buildings, built in equatorial Brazil between the 16th and 18th centuries, were analyzed for the present microorganisms. Limestone churches in Salvador, Bahia, and a sandstone fort in Belem, Para, were sampled.
