Effect of dietary supplementation with different fraction of wheat whole grain on the intestinal microbiota of dietary induced obese mice

Mice were fed a diet with increased fat content (19 %, w/w) for 12 weeks to induce obesity. Each diet was supplemented with 10 % of different wheat grain fractions - either whole grain (WG), white flour (WF), bran (BR) or aleurone (AL). After 12 weeks on the diet, mice were euthanized and short chain fatty acid concentrations and the microbial composition of caecum contents were analyzed.
