Raw data of burrow features recorded during a marine heatwave experiment

This is the raw data of the daily burrow features recorded during the mesocosm experiments that studied the impact of marine heatwaves. The experiment involved a 2-day period at baseline temperature (20 °C) and then a 6-day marine heatwave (30 °C) followed by a 3-day recovery period at 20 °C. Sediment containing local infauna was collected in buckets from the intertidal flats along the shore of Long Island Sound near Long Wharf Park in New Haven, Connecticut, USA (41°17'34.8" N, 72°55'01.2" W) on June 3rd, 2024. Key aspects of the bioturbation features composing this dataset include bioturbation area, horizontal versus vertical burrows, maximum burrow depth, branching, and mixed-layer depth. These burrow features are associated with common bioturbating fauna of Long Wharf, such as polychaetes and amphipods.
