Tree Preservation Orders also known as TPO's are served on individual trees, groups of trees or woodlands to prohibit the: cutting down, uprooting, topping, lopping, damage, or destruction of trees. For trees protected by a TPO consent is required from the Council to carry out works to it. Protection is also given to all trees in Conservation Areas and the Council must be formally notified of an intention to carry out any works that may affect such a tree.
