Genome sequencing of Zeugodacus cucurbitae (melon fly) adult male

The melon fly, Zeugodacus cucurbitae (Coquillett; order Diptera: family Tephritidae), is a destructive agricultural pest known to infest more than one hundred varieties of fruit and vegetable crops. This specimen was collected from a colony maintained at the USDA-ARS Daniel K. Inouye US Pacific Basin Agricultural Research Center in Hilo, Hawaii, USA since the 1960s.

西瓜蝇，学名 Zeugodacus cucurbitae (Coquillett)，隶属于双翅目（Diptera）的实蝇科（Tephritidae），是一种破坏性极强的农业害虫，已知可侵害一百多种水果和蔬菜作物。该样本自20世纪60年代以来，一直由美国农业部农业研究服务局（USDA-ARS）丹尼尔·K·伊诺伊美国太平洋盆地农业研究中心（Daniel K. Inouye US Pacific Basin Agricultural Research Center）在夏威夷火奴鲁鲁的殖民地中保存。
