Lessico e beni materiali nella Terra d'Otranto dell'Ottocento. L'inventario dei beni del duca di Parabita (1839-1840)

This research work begins from the study of the Inventory of possessions of the deceased Duke of Parabita Don Giovanni Ferrari, written by the notary Gaetano Vinci between November 1839 and March 1840. This inventory is very important because offers a detailed picture of the most common linguistic trends of the period and of the lexicon used in Parabita in 1800, especially among the upper classes of the population. The research made also possible to identify some terms no longer existing today, for which it was possible to hypothesize the origin and the meaning, and toponyms. Starting from this inventory, it was possible to create a glossary, divided into fifteen categories. Each category is composed of a variable number of terms for which the definition and certifications in the inventory are indicated.
