This study aimed to isolate novel bacteriophages using uropathogenic bacteria isolated from Tygerberg Hospital (Stellenbosch University, South Africa). This genome was isolated from a Klebsiella pneumoniae uropathogen. This bacteria is multidrug-resistant and was used to isolate a bacteriophage with a depolymerase that can overcome the capsule contributing to bacterial resistance. This bacteria is therefore of medical relevance.
