Most targeted industries by nation-state cyber threat actors 2020-2023

Between fiscal years 2021 and 2023, the number of cyber threats against education institutions worldwide has increased significantly. In the latest measured year, around 16 percent of the network intrusions by nation-state or state-affiliated cyber threat actors were directed against education institutions worldwide. Governments, on the other hand, saw less incidents in the fiscal year 2023, only 12 percent. The research also found that state-affiliated cyber threat actors aimed another 11 percent of cyber attacks at think tanks and NGOs in the latest reported year.
