School Segregation Data (Version 2.0)

Abstract with Data Use Agreement (note: the following bullet points are all in once section):

School Segregation Data Version 2.0 was published in November 2025. The archive includes school segregation data for the nation, states, metropolitan areas, commuting zones, counties, congressional districts, and administrative and geographic school districts from 1991 to 2023. The archive also includes a Geographic Crosswalk linking schools to these geographies and the Longitudinal Imputed School Dataset (LISD) Version 2.0, which provides imputed school-level demographic data. This release updates School Segregation Data Version 1.1, which was created by Sean F. Reardon, Ann Owens, Demetra Kalogrides, Heewon Jang, and Thalia Tom.

You agree not to use the data sets for commercial advantage, or in the course of for-profit activities. Commercial entities wishing to use this Service should contact Stanford University’s Office of Technology Licensing ([e-mail]).
You agree that you will not use these data to identify or to otherwise infringe the privacy or confidentiality rights of individuals.

THE DATA SETS ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND STANFORD MAKES NO REPRESENTATIONS AND EXTENDS NO WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. You agree that this Agreement and any dispute arising under it is governed by the laws of the State of California of the United States of America, applicable to agreements negotiated, executed, and performed within California.
