Ontology-based Data Model for Building Characterizations

The ontology-based data model for building characterizations provides a knowledge framework to support a uniform approach to building data management and streamline building data discovery for applications in loss estimation. The data model leverages ontology-based knowledge representations and an object-oriented approach to support characterizations of buildings and their components, including features and relational properties. The data model was created to (1) support characterizations of actual constructed buildings, which vary in their geometries and composition, and (2) to aid in the realization of high-fidelity regional loss estimations.
