Description This dataset contains species records collected as part of a biodiversity survey in forest ecosystems of Bohemian and Saxon Switzerland, with a focus on post-fire areas. The dataset includes taxonomic records from field sampling conducted from 2023 to 2025. Each record represents a taxon identified from a given sampling event, including information on locality, sampling period, sampling method, taxonomic group, family, species name, abundance or cover, red-list category, and the person responsible for determination or revision. The data are intended to support analyses of biodiversity patterns, species composition, and conservation value in forest ecosystems influenced by fire. Geographic coverage The dataset covers forest ecosystems in the Bohemian (Czech Republic) and Saxon Switzerland (Germany) regions, which were affected by a wildfire in August 2022. Temporal coverage Sampling years: 2023, 2024, and 2025 Sampling dates are provided in the columns “Date of sampling (from)” and “Date of sampling (to)”. The data were collected mostly from March to September. Data format The dataset is provided as a tabular file in .xlsx. Each row represents one species record for a given sampling event. Column descriptions Locality: Name of the sampled region or locality. Year: Year in which the sampling was conducted. Date of sampling (from): Start date of the sampling period. Dates are given in the format DD.MM.YYYY. Date of sampling (to): End date of the sampling period. Dates are given in the format DD.MM.YYYY. Method of sampling: The sampling method used to collect the record. During the survey, pitfall traps, flight interception traps, UV-light traps, audio recorders, observations, and vegetation relevés were used. Group: Higher taxonomic group to which the record belongs. Family: Taxonomic family to which the record belongs. Species: Scientific name of the recorded species. Abundance or cover: Number of individuals recorded, or cover value where applicable. The column Abundance or cover contains either abundance data, usually the number of individuals, or cover estimates, depending on the taxonomic group and sampling method. Users should consider the sampling method and taxonomic group when comparing values across different organism groups. Red list: Red-list or conservation status category according to Grulich et al. 2017; Hejda et al. 2017, and Chobot & Němec 2017. Empty cells indicate that no category was assigned or available. Determinator: Person who identified the specimen or taxon. Revisor: Person who revised or confirmed the identification, where applicable. Empty cells indicate that no revision was recorded. Taxonomic information Species names follow the taxonomy used by the Nature Conservation Agency of the Czech Republic (AOPK ČR 2025). Users should verify the current taxonomic status if combining this dataset with other sources or using it for taxonomic synthesis.
