Genetic diversity in wild and cultivated bananas. MUSADIV

To study the diversity and evolution of cultivated bananas and their wild relatives, unique loci were amplified by PCR and sequenced directly or after cloning using the dedeoxy chain termination approach (Sanger sequencing). The haplotypes of the individual diploid or triploid genotypes were deduced from the chromatograms. Chloroplast (petA, petB, rbcL ndhA, rpl16), mitochondrial (nad4, nad5) and nuclear (ADH3, CAT2, IDH1, GBSS1, ARF14) loci were studied.
