To investigate whether cable bacteria could disperse through the water column, an experiment was set up where a microcosm with natural sediment on one side and autoclaved sediment (or destination cores) on the other. We monitored the growth of cable bacteria and sampled at several time points to assess the presence of cable bacteria. Samples taken are sequenced for V3V4 16S rRNA
