A 16S rRNA gene amplicon study focusing on queen bees during the modern rearing process. Larval queens, newly emerged queens, queens in the mating nucleus and final queens were sampled. Samples from workers interacting with queens were taken at each stage of development and queens were sacrificed at each stage.
