Chromosome-level assembly of the traditional Chinese medicine plant Strobilanthes cusia genome

Strobilanthes cusia (Nees) Kuntze is an important original plant of the traditional Chinese medicine “Qingdai” and “Nanbanlangen”. The main active ingredients of S. cusia are indole alkaloids such as indigo, indirubin and their derivatives, which does not only have antibacterial, antiviral and antitumor pharmacological activities, but also can be used as natural dyes. Here, we present a chromosome-level genome assembly of S. cusia by incorporating PacBio high fidelity reads and Hi-C technology.
