资源简介:
Peter Bartholomew has been a resident of Korea for the past 47 years, of which he spent 42 years, living in his very own hanok, which he purchased in 1974. As the Vice President of a shipping consulting firm, he often goes on business trips and his life can get quite frenetic, but that doesn′t stop him from making the time to promote and preserve hanok. He had been into architecture and history ever since he was young, and after arriving in Korea with the Peace Corps, he found himself captivated by the beauty of hanok. He′d spend his week, teaching English with the volunteer corps, and his weekends, riding the bicycle or the bus to view the exotic landscape and traditional architecture. Then, he had an opportunity to live in bSeongyojang, regarded as one of the best representations of the upper-class housing style, and began to understand the excellence of traditional Korean-style houses. The ambassador of hanok, who knows the locations of practically all the hanoks in Seoul, took the production crew of The Innerview to a well-preserved hanok in SeongbuK-dong and provided thorough explanations while giving us a tour. He explained that he wished he could′ve shown us his own home, but he couldn′t as it is currently under repair. Meet Peter Bartholomew on The Innerview and take a look at hanok from his perspective, 2014 September 29.
