The ledgers in this series record the payments of money in and out of the Hume Pastures Protection Board's account. The Pastures Protection Act 1934, Section 16, states that, "Every board shall, in January in each year, cause an account in the prescribed form to be prepared of its receipts and expenditure for the year preceding under distinct heads, with a statement of the balance. Such account shall be duly audited and certified. A copy of such account shall be published not later than the month of March next following in one or more newspapers circulating in the district. Copies of such account shall also be furnished to the Minister and the Auditor-General."Each double page is divided into one page for Debit and one page for Credit, with the same column headings on each page. Columns are headed with the following titles: date, particulars, amount; total; and cash book folio.
