Routes GIS Dataset of Tourists along the Silk Road in the Mongol-Yuan Dynasty

During the Mongol-Yuan Dynasty, there were many tourists travelled along the Silk Road, of whom about 15 were recorded in detail and could be restored to their journeys. The journeys of those tourists are of great significance to the study of the route of the Silk Road in the Mongol-Yuan Dynasty and the route chosen in different periods. This paper collects the tourists in the literature, and then draws the routes based on modern research results, ancient and modern maps, Google Earth satellite images and so on. The 15 travelers, from the earliest Yelu Chucai (1218) to the latest Marignolli (1353), have a time span of more than a century. According to the travel time of each tourist, this paper divides 673 locations into 20 groups of travel point data and 64 sections of itinerary route data into 20 groups, thus forming this data set.
