Full historical database on fire occurrences in the natural core of Falz-Fein Biosphere Reserve "Askania Nova", Ukraine during 1974-2024. Georeferenced vector polygons with statistics

A retrospective analysis of fires and identification of burned areas in the natural core of the Askania Nova Biosphere Reserve (Kherson region, Ukraine) was carried out using archival images from Landsat-1, 2, 5, 7 satellites (1974–2015) and the Sentinel-2 satellite constellation (2015–November 2024). The obtained materials are consistent with the data of long-term ground field surveys of the steppe. 

The current dataset is organized as a multipolygon GEOJSON file with a coordinate reference system WGS 84 / UTM zone 36N, EPSG:32636. Each polygon represents single burned area with information on it (year, date, area, reference information, fire cause, block squares covered)
