LiMe

The LiMe dataset was created by the Departments of History and Computer Science at the University of Milan, comprising 325 documents extracted from medieval Milanese criminal court records. These documents originate from the manuscript series titled *Libri sententiarum potestatis Mediolani*, covering criminal judgments spanning the years 1385 to 1429. The dataset has been meticulously annotated by experts, and is designed to support masked language modeling and supervised natural language processing tasks. The LiMe dataset not only holds considerable value for legal historians, but also provides abundant information for research on medieval political and social structures, aiding in resolving the discrepancies between legal practice and theory in medieval urban contexts.
