In English: The campaign objective was to capture ice fishes (Fam. Channichthyidae) larva to determine: - The different isoforms of nitric oxide syntases, at proteines and RNAm, as molecular markers os hipoxy. - The larval development status by means of the age through the otolites analysis and RNA/DNA rates. - To determinate the oxygen comsumption under controlled conditions. A secondary objective was to study the ictioplankton distribution regarding to the oceanographic parameters as well as other biological aspects of it. Also the krill Euphasia superba oxygen consumption was analysed at different development stages. A network of oceanographic stations following a stratified design was established, with 15 nautic miles of distance between stations. In each station a vertical profile recording was done the oceanographic parameters: salinity, conductivity, temperature, chlorophyll, turbity, depth and oxygen, by means of a CTD fitted to a Rosette with Niskin bottles. The bottles were used to obtain samples of water at different depths. It was also done fishing by Bioness multi-net whose allows us to obtain up to 9 samples of plankton at controlled depths in real time. Finally, the plankton sampling was completed with an IKMT fishing. In some stations consecutive fishing were done to obtain complementary material. In the locations where more ice fishes were found the stations were repeated. In this way, in Port Foster in Deception Island a total of 33 fishing were done and the 14, 18, 22 and 25 stations were repeated. Finally a N-S line with 11 stations separated 5 miles was completed with the objective of study the plankton variations related to the water masses existing in the Bransfield Strait. En Espanol: El objetivo de la campana era capturar larvas de peces de hielo (Fam. Channichthyidae) para determinar: - Las distintas isoformas de oxido nitrico sintasas, al nivel de proteina y ARNm, como marcadores moleculares de hiperoxia. - El estado de desarrollo larvario mediante la asignacion de la edad por medio del analisis de los otolitos y de las tasas de ARN/ADN. - Determinar el consumo de oxigeno en condiciones controladas Como objetivo secundario se estudio la distribucion del ictioplancton en relacion con los parametros oceanograficos asi como otros aspectos biologicos del mismo. Ademas, se analizo el consumo de oxigeno de las distintas fases del desarrollo de krill Euphasia superba. Se establecia una red de estaciones oceanograficas siguiendo un diseno estratificado, con las estaciones separadas unas 15 millas nauticas. En cada estacion se realizo un perfil vertical de los parametros oceanograficos: salinidad, conductividad, temperatura, clorofila, turbidez, profundidad y oxigeno, mediante una batisonda CTD acoplada a una Rossetta con botellas Niskin. Las botellas se utilizaron para obtener muestras de agua a profundidades determinadas. A continuacion se realizaron pescas mediante una multired Bioness que permite obtener hasta 9 muestras de plancton a profundidades controladas a tiempo real. Finalmente, se complemento el muestreo del plancton con una pesca con IKMT. En algunas estaciones se realizaron varias pescas consecutivas para obtener material complementario. Ademas, en las localizaciones en que se obtuvieron mas peces de hielo, se repitieron las estaciones. Asi, en el Puerto Foster en la Isla Decepcion se llevaron a cabo un total de 33 pescas y las estaciones 14, 18, 22 y 25 se repitieron. Finalmente, se realizo un transecto norte-sur con 11 estaciones separadas 5 millas, con el objetivo de estudiar la variacion del plancton en relacion con las masas de agua que se encuentran en el Estrecho de Bransfield.
