Topographical and geological surveys of the area at the head of the Priestly, Campbell, Aviator, Mariner and Rennick Glaciers, North Victoria Land

The area at the head of the Priestly, Campbell, Aviator, Mariner and Rennick Glaciers and eastwards to the coast was surveyed by a basic triangulation network and ground photography, some 14,000 square miles. 15 observation stations were occupied. One major baseline and 2 minor baselines were measured and magnetic bearings were taken at most stations. The entire area was geologically investigated and surveyed. Four major groups of rocks were distinguished and mapped: 1) Volcanics of Tertiary and recent ages, 2) Volcanics of Jurassic age, 3) Granite and gneissic granite of Pre Cambrian age and 4) Schist and marble of Pre Cambrian age. Rocks were collected for petrological examination, white surface efflorescence was sampled for analysis and lichen were collected from three localities.
