Turnera velutina foliar traits from five populations in Mexico

We measured foliar functional traits in five populations of the tropical shrub <em>Turnera velutina</em> sampled across a precipitation range to explore the association between water availability and changes in phenotypic integration of leaf traits defining functional strategies of plants. We measured leaf traits related to plant primary metabolism (Leaf mass contenc, Leaf nitrogen content, 13C isotope content, Nitrogen:carbon) and defense against herbivores (sugar content in extrafloral nectar, trichome density, cyanogenic potential) and analyzed their variation estimating the magnitude and patterns of their integration.
