资源简介:
A stratigraphic pollen column was examined from the sediments at 5EP935,
associated with Crow's Roost, a prominent sandstone cliff. An intermittent
creek, Black Squirrel Creek, flows west of the cliff to eventually drain into the
Arkansas River. A series of sites are noted along the base of the cliff, ranging
in age from Archaic through Early Ceramic, with possible Middle and Late Ceramic
components (McDonald et al., n.d.). Site 5EP935 is located near the extreme
southern end of the cliff outcrop. Stratigraphic pollen analysis was undertaken
to define vegetation and paleoenvironmental conditions along Crow' s Roost prior
to and during the Late Archaic. Macrofloral samples were examined from two
features to identify plant processing activities.
