This BioProject describes a human fecal microbiome cohort study focused on nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and its progression. A total of 55 adult participants were enrolled, including 15 healthy controls, 20 patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver (NAFL), and 20 patients with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). Fecal samples were collected for 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing to characterize gut microbiome composition across these three groups and to explore microbial signatures associated with NAFLD onset and progression.
