This series contains the records and minutes of the Australian Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals Council. The Council was established under the Commonwealth Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals Act 1988 (Act No. 91, 1988) on the 24 November 1988. (1) The Council's functions were to to grant or withdraw clearances for the registration of chemical products for use in States and Territories for specified purposes under specified conditions. (2) The functions of the Council were moved to the The National Registration Authority for Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals (NRA) on 15 June 1993 and State responsibilities for agricultural and veterinary chemical registration became a commonwealth scheme.
