资源简介:
The data contains functional trait values of bumblebee, butterfly and carabid beetle communities in 78 fields, representing eight crop types (spring cereal, winter cereal, faba bean, oilseed crops, cabbage, ley, arable pasture and long-term fallows) and two production methods (organic and conventional) in Southern Finland. Information on arable land cover-% around the central points of the study sites (within 250 m and 500 m radii) is also included. Butterfly species traits are wingspan, adult habitat breadth, and overwintering stage. Bumblebee species traits are body length, tongue length, and spring emergence time (month). Carabid beetle species traits are flight ability, feeding preference and overwintering stage. For butterflies and bumblebees, the trait values of individuals observed on a field were averaged to get the community-weighted mean for the field. For carabid beetles, the proportions of individuals in the groups of poor dispersers, carnivores and adult hibernators were calculated for each field. The data is related to the article 'Toivonen, M., Huusela, E., Hyvönen, T., Järvinen, A., Kuussaari, M. (2024) Crop type rather than production method determines functional trait composition of insect communities on arable land in boreal agricultural landscapes. Agricultural and Forest Entomology. DOI: 10.1111/afe.12629.' The data was collected in Justfood project funded by the Strategic Research Council of the Academy of Finland (decision no. 352638).
