A study of vaginal microbiota in POI patients

Premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) is a clinical syndrome defined by loss of ovarian activity before 40 years old. It is a complex reproductive endocrine disease that can affect multiple systems. It is highly heterogeneous in etiology and the exact etiology remains unclear. Infectious factors may be related to POI, but researches on the alterations of microbiome in POI patients are scarce. Therefore, we plan to conduct a series of studies to reveal the changes in the composition and function of vaginal microbiota in POI patients, and to explore the role of them in the occurrence and development of POI.From the new perspective of microbiome, we hope to provide a new strategy for the etiological study of POI and a new target for the prevention and treatment of POI.
