This proposal aims to study via X-Ray Absorption Spectroscopy (XAS) two purely organic helical compounds that feature chiral and magnetic properties. Recently we confirmed that this kind of molecules are promising in terms of assembly on the surface as well as of spin filtering properties by Chirality Induced Spin Selectivity (CISS) effect. Now, we plan to investigate the magnetic properties and the orientation of these molecules as a function of the interaction with the metallic substrate, tuned by the anchoring groups. By performing XMCD and XNLD at the Carbon and Nitrogen K-edge we aim to study the paramagnetic properties and the orientation of the molecules once assemble in a monolayer deposit on surface.
