EuroHosts Database - Host Plant and Insect Herbivore Associations in Europe

This dataset provides a comprehensive, taxonomically standardised collection of plant-insect herbivore associations across Europe. It specifically distinguishes between native and non-native (archeophyte and neophyte) host plants and insects. We compiled the EuroHosts dataset, comprising 80,546 known plant-insect herbivore species associations across Europe. This dataset was compiled from published databases and websites covering native and non-native insect herbivores feeding on native and non-native plant species in Europe. The database records insect associations for 6,637 plant species (including both native and naturalised non-native species), and 17,246 insect herbivore species (including both native and established non-native species). This dataset documents variation among plant species in the diversity of insect species that use them as hosts, as well as variation among insect species in the number and types of plants that they utilise as hosts.
