Expression of SIX2 in metanephric mesenchyme

Sine oculis homolog 2 (SIX2) is expressed in metanephric mesenchyme during formation of the metanephros, the adult kidney (O'Brien et al. 2016, and inferred from mouse homologs). Expression continues into development of nephrons where it is regulated by either SIX1 or SIX2 (O'Brien et al. 2016). In mouse embryos, Six2 appears to maintain metanephric mesenchyme in a less differentiated, more proliferative state (Self et al. 2006, Kobayashi et al. 2008, Park et al. 2012).

Sine oculis同源基因2（SIX2）在形成生肾间充质阶段表达，此时为成年肾脏（O'Brien 等人，2016年，以及从小鼠同源基因推断得出）。其表达延续至肾单位发育阶段，此时受SIX1或SIX2的调控（O'Brien 等人，2016年）。在小鼠胚胎中，Six2似乎维持生肾间充质处于较未分化、更增殖的状态（Self 等人，2006年，Kobayashi 等人，2008年，Park 等人，2012年）。
