Improving healthcare system sustainability in Nepal

The PhD program explores strategies to enhance the sustainability of the healthcare system in Nepal by identifying high-value alternative healthcare delivery arrangements. The research also addresses high-impact maternal and newborn disorders. It evaluates the readiness of health facilities to provide maternal and newborn health services. Additionally, the study examines barriers and enablers to implementing integrated postpartum contraceptive counselling and insertion of postpartum intrauterine contraceptive devices within maternity care, a potentially high-value model to enhance services for improving maternal and newborn health. Overall, this thesis has identified opportunities for improving healthcare delivery and, in turn, improving the sustainability of the healthcare system in Nepal.
