Digital Archive from an Archaeological Watching Brief at Bury Street, Guildford, Surrey, September to October 2023

This collection comprises site images and records, and spreadsheet data from an archaeological watching brief at the junctions of Bury Street/Portsmouth Road and Mount Pleasant/Portsmouth Road, Guildford, Surrey. The works were carried out by Headland Archaeology between September and October 2023. No remains of archaeological significance were found, with all features (consisting of services and part of a cobbled road surface) dating to the 19th and 20th centuries and reflecting the early 19th construction and 1960s redevelopment of Bury Street, the 20th century construction of Mount Pleasant and Portsmouth Road and the installation of 20th and 21st century infrastructure for the surrounding residential area.
