Social Conditions of University Students in Odense, 1982

The survey was carried out for the Central Student Guidance Office (Studievejledningen), Odense University. #A random sample of 466 students was selected from Odense University's register of students matriculated. These students were were sent a 25-page structured questionnaire, containing 53 questions. #The survey deals with the students' social and financial conditions as well as their study conditions, and it contains questions about such issues as: # 1) education, occupation and social status of the students' # parents, # 2) geographical place of origin of the students, # 3) housing conditions, including form of accommodation, type of # dwelling and wish to find a new dwelling, # 4) financial conditions, including income distributed on # sources of income, size of study debts, and regular outlays, # 5) education and occupation before starting at the university, # 6) study activity, including the extent, types of and reasons # for inactivity, # 7) keeping of the prescribed time for a study and reasons for # delay, # 8) change of study and leave, and reasons for this, # 9) student political activity, #10) paid work, including the extent of it during the entire # course of study as well as advantages and disadvantages, #11) the students' attitudes to their financial conditions, #12) degree of satisfaction with and well-being in connection with # the university study, including relations with fellow # students, performance and problems in connection with the # study. #Total response percentage: 79.2
