Effect of metal core size on critical performance of REBCO tape for CORC cable

In order to promote the application of the ReBCO conductor on round core (CORC) cable to cable in conduit conductors (CICC) and high field magnets, it is of great importance to study the influence of metal core size on the critical performance of ReBCO tape for CORC cable. A number of single-layer CORC cable samples were hand-wound. The effects of the core size on critical current of YBCO tape for CORC cable are investigated at 77 K and in magnetic self-field. As the core size decreases, the critical current of the YBCO tape degenerates. When the cable core size is less than 4.3 mm, the critical current drops significantly. When the core size is 4mm, the critical current is 127A, the n value is 32.5, and the critical performance is reduced by 21%
