In July 1989 the State Land Information Council invited expressions of interest to develop and operate an on-line Public Enquiry Service for New South Wales land information. It is proposed that the LIS HUB would provide to a private sector distributor (probably on a licence or contract basis) a full set of graphic and textual data from its trustee agencies. The HUB would continue to meet the integrated land data requirements of government agencies and other users where these need bulk data supply. On-line, one-off enquiries would be handled by the proposed Public Enquiry Service. It was expected that the proposed service would also include public access to selected services of some of the key land information agencies such as the Land Titles Office. The twenty two expressions of interest were in most cases submitted in triplicate. They varied greatly in size and detail but, in accordance with the brief, each addressed the proposed overall concept, the corporate background of the proposer and the benefits of the Service to the New South Wales economy. At August 1990 the proposals of a short list of three contenders were being evaluated by a panel comprising private and public sector members. (12/14001-14002.15). 2 boxes (part).
