资源简介:
Here, we present bird species abundance matrices of a survey perfomed in Medellín and surrounding municipalities, northern Andes of Colombia. We sampled birds in eight systems, including four non-urban and four urban systems, as follows: well-preserved forest, second-growth forest, exotic-tree plantation, open areas, and 0–25 %, 26–50 %, 51–75 %, and 76–100 % of urbanization level. Data were taken between June–August 2023 by the same observer (Jaime A. Garizábal-Carmona) at two consecutive 5-min bird point-counts (50 m radius), always under favorable weather conditions and during the first five hours after sunrise. All birds recorded visually or aurally actively utilizing the surveyed area were included in our analysis, including those foraging in the air (e.g., swallows and swifts) and excluding over-flying individuals. The number of bird individuals per species was defined as the maximum number of individuals recorded in both repetitions at each point. Hence, absolute abundances are presented as the sum of the maximum number of individuals per species per point, while bird species richness are presented as the cumulative values per point. Bird sampling included a total of 160 points (four non-urban systems and four urban systems; 20 points each). We provide the cumulative species list and absolute abundances summarizing by system in the same file (see "birdmatrix_allsystems_summary.csv"). We also addeed the five diet categories based on Wilman et al. (2014) (Elton Traits 1.0: Species-level foraging attributes of the world’s birds and mammals. Published on Ecology 95:2027), as follows: (i) granivorous, for bird species feeding mainly on plants and seeds; (ii) frugivorous-nectarivorous, for bird species feeding mainly on fruits and nectar; (iii) insectivorous, for bird species feeding mainly on invertebrates; (iv) carnivorous, for bird species feeding mainly on vertebrates, including fish and carrion; and (v) omnivorous, for bird species feeding ≤ 50 % on any of the food items defining the previous four categories.
