资源简介:
Hospital wastewaters and poultries droppings are important sources of release of antibiotic resistance genes to the environments. These wastes aid the spread of not just disease-causing antibiotic resistance bacteria, but also resistance determinants. Antibiotic resistance are threats to the successful treatments of infections, as they thwart the efficacy of antibiotics. This study is part of a broader study that seeks to understand the taxonomic diversity and functionality of these organisms as a way of drawing useful conclusions on relationships between antibiotic resistance, heavy metal resistance and other resistance determinants. To have a knowledge of the prokaryotic diversity which accounts for the greater extent of the pathogenic organisms in hospital wastewater and poultries droppings, metagenomic approach was used to compare the bacterial and archaea composition of hospital wastewaters and poultries based on 16sRNA amplicon sequencing on illumina platform. Hospital wastewaters samples were taken from 3 major general hospitals in Lagos State, Nigeria namely General Hospital, Odan, Lagos Island (SLI), Isolo General Hospital (SIS) and Ikorodu General Hospital (SIK), while poultry droppings were taken from 2 major poultries namely Erikorodo Poultry Estate, Ikorodu (PIK) and Aiyedoto Poultry Farm Estate, Ojo (POJ).
