A story of a common fraud. Scientific misconduct as seen through Polish psychology students’ eyes

The commentary to Klebaniuk’s paper ‘Professor Stapel on dope. On the beautifying of social psychology’ shows the search for explanations for the scientific misconduct in psychology. With the help of Polish psychology students survey, the authors present the dissonance between declared values and dishonest practices. More than 50% of subjects admit to witnessing some kind of fraudulent behaviour in psychological research. Some historical and cultural reasons for fraudulent behaviour are presented and discussed. peerReviewed publishedVersion
