Enterococcus faecalis is an opportunistic pathogen but now established as major community-acquired and nosocomial pathogens causing a variety of infections. However, the genome characteristic and virulent trait of pathogenic enterococcus fecalis is still elusive. This strain enterococcus fecalis MA1 is isolated from a chinese patient and may be used as a control strain to study the genomic characteristics of pathogenic enterococcus. It can be also be used to assess quality of commercially prepared microbiological culture media and commercialized biochemical identification of bacterial species (API, Vitek, etc.).
