<b>Description of the data</b>This global database compiles 385 paired datapoints from 136 studies investigating the effects of planting nitrogen (N)-fixing species on soil organic carbon (SOC) stock. The number of datapoints were 385 for SOC stock, 284 for soil N stock, and 31 for aboveground biomass (AGB).<b>Description of the file structure</b><b><i>Raw_data.xlsx</i></b>: 1) Sheet 1 provides ciation of all publication, data including latitude, longitude, mean annual temperature, mean annual precipitation, climate zone, plant type, planting mode, planting duration, planting duration, non-N-fixing species, N-fixing species, response ratio (lnRR) of SOC stock, variation of SOC stock, initial SOC stock, lnRR of soil N stock, variation of soil N stock, initial soil N stock, lnRR of AGB. 2) Sheet 2 describes all the abbreviations in the Sheet 1.<b><i>Source data</i></b><b>.xlsx</b>: This file provides all the raw data in each figure or table.<b><i>R code.R</i></b><b>:</b> This file provides the code for the meta-analysis, model selection, up-scaling, regression analysis, and figure generation.<b><i>Readme</i></b><b>.txt</b>: This file lists the main analysis methods included in the R code, as well as other necessary information.<b>Code</b>The meta-ananlysis and the analysis were performed in R version 4.2.3. Necessary R-package including <i>'metafor', 'segmented', 'glmulti', 'raster'</i> and other supplementary packages are needed to install first. The detailed code can be referred to the file '<i>R code.R</i>.'<br>
