Gemalde selection (thumbnails)

The dataset selection includes catalogued images of MIDAS objects from the Photographic Collection with "Sachbegriff (a5230)"=Gemälde.

There are 21871 objects matching the query with 17689 fotos associated which also contain an indication of the filename.

These are stored in a format with the longest side large 320px maximum which is used as thumbnails and provided without restrictions.

A CSV file is provided which, for each image includes a link to the file, a link to the full MIDAS XML via OAI-PMH to retrieve updated structured data in XML, but also stringyfied information extracted from the entire catalogued object and for the foto. Not all digitised versions of images are listed. The Xquery script used to generate the CSV is also provided. It can be adapted and run on another MIDAS XML dataset.

Note that images with ids like bh340983 may return an image bh340983_recto. Not all images are available at the moment, as the process of ingesting data from the digitizazion project is ongoing. The python script used to download the files is provided as well to allow for a rerun. Images may include metadata. additional formats of information can be obtained starting from the object id 08* and from the foto identifier bh* .

Digital images can be, native, scans or prints, or digitised negatives. An updated dump of the MIDAS XML can be obtained upon request. Digital images of paintings which are natively digital may include images of the back side of the paintings.

All these are derivatives of archived images and may not contain full embedded metadata about the images.
