资源简介:
This collection comprises images, site records, reports, spreadsheets, a harris matrix, databases, and GIS and photogrammetry data from archaeological recording works within an area known as Southam Central, Warwickshire. This work was undertaken by Connect Archaeology between April and October 2021 as part of the High Speed 2 (HS2) infrastructure project. The archaeological remains uncovered appear to represent the remains of a pit alignment dating (at the earliest) to the Late Bronze Age, with potential final closure at the end of the Early Iron Age. To the south of this, the remains of a Middle Iron Age rural roundhouse settlement were identified and to the north of this, remains of a 3rd-4th century AD kiln, situated on the periphery of a substantial 2nd-4th century Romano-British rural settlement and field system. One isolated cremation pit was noted during trial trenching and confirmed to be an isolated feature during the archaeological recording phase, which likely related to the prehistoric period.
