资源简介:
The common big-eared bat (Micronycteris microtis) is a bat species from South and Central America. Recent research has demonstrated this bat's ability to find motionless food within clutter. Echolocating bats discriminate between background and prey based on glints or Doppler shifts in the echo induced by the (wing-)movements of the prey, but M. microtis can detect completely motionless prey (from Wikipedia entry). This sample of a male individual found in Orange Walk, Lamanai, Belize was procured by Nancy Simmons to generate a high-quality reference genome for Bat1K and the Bat Biology Foundation. Sequencing was conducted at Paratus Sciences and genome assembly was conducted at the Vertebrate Genome Lab (VGL) at the Rockefeller University, led by Erich D. Jarvis, Giulio Formenti, and Jennifer Balacco.
